Localisation of the interface and marketing-related materials for a hospitality management software suite used by over 2,000 accommodation and wellness facilities
Project description
Context
This ongoing project involves localising a modular hospitality management platform used by hotels, boarding houses, campsites, and wellness facilities. The software supports bookings, administration, spa scheduling, event management, and reporting tools.
Working from German into Italian, I localise core UI elements such as menus, prompts, and system messages, alongside tooltips, user instructions, structured documentation, release notes, and update newsletters.
Challenge
At the outset, ensuring consistent terminology across interconnected modules was essential. Although the client provided a style guide and glossary, some hospitality terms were outdated or no longer aligned with current industry usage.
Interface constraints and a diverse user base added further complexity. The platform serves both small independent properties and large hotel groups, requiring translations that remain precise while intuitive for users with varying levels of technical familiarity.
As the platform evolves, new features must integrate seamlessly with the existing Italian version to maintain clarity and usability.
Approach & outcome
Alongside applying the client’s guidelines, I reviewed existing terminology critically and proposed updates where appropriate to better reflect contemporary hospitality practice in Italian.
Through ongoing collaboration across regular releases, I contribute to a coherent and user-friendly Italian version of the platform, supporting its continued growth in Italian-speaking markets.
