Localisation of content for a tech learning platform, adapting written lessons, instructional videos, and infographics as part of an Italian localisation team
Project description
Context
This project involved localising educational content for a tech-focused online learning platform preparing to launch its Italian version. The platform combines structured courses and roadmap-style learning paths covering software, IT, and digital skills.
The localisation work focused on the initial launch batch and included written lessons, infographics, platform UI elements, and introductory course videos with subtitles.
Challenge
The main challenge was adapting technical content into clear, accessible Italian without losing precision. Explanations needed to remain accurate while being understandable for learners at varying levels of experience.
Subtitles required additional care, as translations had to respect timing constraints and on-screen context while maintaining readability. Coordination across courses was essential to ensure consistent terminology and tone throughout the launch phase.
Approach & outcome
Localisation was carried out as part of an Italian team, with ongoing coordination via Slack to align terminology, tone of voice, and stylistic choices. Early agreement on recurring concepts helped maintain consistency across the platform.
Written lessons and infographics were adapted to preserve technical accuracy while remaining learner-friendly, and subtitles were translated with careful attention to timing and clarity.
The Italian version launched with cohesive terminology and a consistent learning experience across written lessons, visual materials, and video content, supporting smooth onboarding for new learners.
