Context

A boutique distributor of high-end European beauty brands commissioned the localisation of a product catalogue for the Italian market. The project required precise adaptation to preserve each brand’s premium positioning and visual identity.

Working directly in Adobe InDesign, I handled localisation, image editing, and layout adjustments. Content included brand stories, product descriptions, and ingredient lists, all of which needed to read naturally in Italian while reflecting the original tone.

Challenge

The catalogue design imposed tight layout constraints. Styled photography and structured typography left little room for text expansion, making space management critical.

In addition to document formatting, many images had to be edited in Photoshop to replace embedded English text with its Italian equivalent. As the source files were not layered, removing the original text required manual retouching before the translated content could be integrated.

Approach & outcome

Alongside localisation, I adjusted line breaks, spacing, and text flow to maintain visual balance across the layout, and retouched images where required.

Consistency was ensured through a dedicated terminology list and systematic cross-checks. The final result was a print-ready Italian catalogue aligned with the original’s linguistic and visual standards.
